3:00 A.M. and Apparently We're Awake

3:00 A.M. Wide awake. WHY? I swear I cannot sleep properly when I'm in San Diego. Put me somewhere else and eventually my body figures it out. Put me in San Diego and apparently my internal clock becomes a 24-hour Denny's. OPEN ALL NIGHT! My eyes opened at three this morning and my brain immediately said, "Oh good, you're awake. Would you like to review every decision you've made since 1997?" No, Brain. "Great! Let's begin." I don't know what it is about being back here. Maybe after living at approximately 900 miles an hour getting Oliver! onstage, my body still doesn't understand that we're allowed to stop. For weeks there was ALWAYS something that needed to happen. Rehearsal. Costumes. Sets. Tickets. Publicity. Problems. Another problem. A problem caused by fixing the previous problem. Then suddenly... nothing. Well, not nothing. I don't actually know how to do nothing. There's Mikado stuff, job stuff, life stuff and the approximately seventeen other projects I've mentally started without informing anyone. But at 3 A.M. none of those things can actually be accomplished, so naturally that's when my brain would most like to accomplish them. Coffee seems inappropriate at three in the morning. Coffee at four, however, feels practically responsible. San Diego sleep schedule: 0. My brain: 847.
