Manipulation
Manipulation is when someone blames you for your reaction to their toxic behavior, but never acknowledges the disrespect that triggered the reaction in the first place. #LiveYourDream #CreativeHealing #ThisIsMyStory #Theater #Musicals #ToxicPeople #StrippedAMemior #MentalHealthMatters #FromStageToPage #HealingThroughArt #VulnerablyBold #Depression #Manipulation #Bipolar #BreakingTheSigma #TheaterAndTherapy

Amusement Parks
I don’t know exactly what it is about amusement parks, but they really are my happy place. Give me roller coasters, ridiculously overpriced food, music playing everywhere, people screaming on rides, and the general chaos of it all and somehow my brain goes, yep, we’re good here. You have no idea how many times I’ve been to Universal this year, and honestly, I’m not even sure I want to count. I can spend an entire day walking around a park and never get bored. I think I just n

Circle
People say that as you get older, your circle gets smaller, and I definitely understand that now. As an adult, you just don’t have a lot of friends, or at least I don’t. People move away, lives change, relationships fade, and suddenly the people you once saw all the time are people you might talk to every few months. I know a lot of people, but knowing people and having actual friends are two very different things. I miss having those everyday friendships, someone to grab din

Old
I’m getting old, and some days I really feel it. Other days I completely forget how old I am until I catch myself in a mirror or see a picture and think, when did that happen? There are days when I’m beyond self conscious about how I look and how much I’ve changed. I think part of what makes it harder is feeling like I somehow lost almost 10 years of my life. Like everything stopped for a while, but time didn’t. And now here we are. I’m older, life looks completely different

Auditions
Well, I’m officially back in NoHo! Today is the first day of auditions for The Santa Switch with VOPA at the El Portal Theatre, and I’m so excited to be Stage Managing this production. There’s something pretty special about being back at a theater where I have so much history, back in North Hollywood, and back doing what I love. Funny how life has a way of bringing you full circle when you least expect it. Here we go! #LiveYourDream #CreativeHealing #ThisIsMyStory #Theater #

2027
Somehow I’m sitting here planning out almost all of 2027, which is hilarious considering most days I’m doing well if I know what I’m doing next Tuesday. But suddenly there are dates on calendars, projects being talked about, places I’ll apparently be living for chunks of time, and a few things I’m ridiculously excited about that I’m not allowed to talk about quite yet. And if you know me, you know how well THAT goes. There’s a lot taking shape for next year and I’m kind of lo

Teeth
Many days I honestly feel like my face is falling off because of the whole teeth, or lack thereof, situation. It’s amazing how much your teeth affect not only how you look, but how you see yourself. I look in the mirror sometimes and barely recognize my own face, and it can really mess with my confidence. I know this is something I’m dealing with and eventually things will get better, but some days it’s just hard. Today is definitely one of those days. #LiveYourDream #Creati

9/11
Yesterday, cleaning the aquarium took a MAJOR turn. What started as a simple cleaning somehow became emptying the entire thing, scrubbing everything, catching every single fish, cleaning all the decorations and putting the whole thing back together. SIX HOURS later, it looks amazing! Of course, It’s 9/11, and I feel like I should be feeling something bigger or more profound today. Of course I remember what this day means and the incredible loss attached to it, but emotions do

Needs
It’s amazing how some people apparently lose access to their phone, email, text messages, WiFi, carrier pigeons, smoke signals, and every known form of human communication when you reach out to them. But the SECOND they need something from you? Suddenly every communication system on Earth has been restored. Texts work! Emails arrive! WiFi is blazing! The satellites are aligned! NASA has confirmed contact! Truly miraculous. #LiveYourDream #CreativeHealing #ThisIsMyStory #Theat

Cleaning
Yesterday, cleaning the aquarium took a MAJOR turn. What started as a simple cleaning somehow became emptying the entire thing, scrubbing everything, catching every single fish, cleaning all the decorations and putting the whole thing back together. SIX HOURS later, it looks amazing! Of course, after all that work, the water decided to turn cloudy, which totally sucks. Apparently my aquarium needed its own full scale theatrical production, complete with a six hour tech rehear

Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month and maybe the biggest reminder is that we really have no idea what someone is carrying. Sometimes the funniest person is hurting the most, the strongest person is just really good at hiding how tired they are, and “I’m fine” is actually a quiet plea for someone to ask again. So ask again. Check on your people. Say I love you. Be the person who notices. And if you’re struggling, stay. Even if today feels impossible, stay for tomorrow. Your

Promo
I was asked to do a little promotional video talking about my set design for The Mikado, and OMG, I had no idea how difficult it would be to just talk to a camera! I did it over and over and over again. I didn’t like how I sounded, didn’t like how I looked, forgot what I wanted to say, started over, watched it back, hated it, and did it again. Finally I just said, “Okay, this is as good as it’s getting!” LOL. It’s funny because I can get onstage in front of hundreds of people

Happiness
Maybe happiness isn't a life where nothing goes wrong. Maybe it's learning to recognize the beautiful moments while everything else is still unfinished. Life doesn't have to be perfect before you're allowed to enjoy it. #LiveYourDream #CreativeHealing #ThisIsMyStory #Theater #Musicals #ToxicPeople #StrippedAMemior #MentalHealthMatters #FromStageToPage #HealingThroughArt #VulnerablyBold #Depression #Manipulation #Bipolar #BreakingTheSigma #TheaterAndTherapy

Back Again
Well, apparently I couldn’t leave well enough alone, so I went BACK to the casino today and somehow WON BACK all the money I lost the other day! Even better, I got to use my newly upgraded card and brought home my “free” dinner. And yes, I realize after what I lost the first time, calling it free requires some very creative accounting, but we’re not going to talk about that. Money recovered, dinner acquired, and I actually left while I was ahead. YAAAY! Sometimes you just hav

Sheila
Sheila FaceTimed me yesterday and we ended up blabbing for an hour and a half about everything and absolutely nothing, and I honestly didn’t realize how much I needed that. I’ve been in San Diego for quite a while now, and the truth is, I’m lonely here. I don’t really have friends here to call up, grab dinner with, go see something with, or just sit around and talk to. I spend a lot more time by myself than I probably let people know, and some days I really feel it. It’s stra

Daddy
Seeing The Phantom of the Opera the other night brought up something I wasn’t really expecting. It made me think about my dad. He took me to see Phantom three or four times when I was younger, and he always thought it was the greatest musical ever written. Sitting there last night, hearing that music again and watching the chandelier rise, I couldn’t help but think about all those times sitting in a theater with him. It’s strange how someone can live only a mile away and some

Big Brother
I love Big Brother. All the lying, backstabbing, alliances, friendships that last about twelve minutes, and people swearing they would NEVER do something right before doing exactly that. It’s basically real life with cameras and competitions thrown in. And somehow, every single year starts the same way. The new cast walks into the house and I’m looking at all of them thinking, “Who are these people and why do I care?” You have absolutely nothing invested in any of them. Then

Phantom
So apparently the theater gods decided to smile on me because I WON the digital lottery for PHANTOM! And not just “congratulations, here’s a seat somewhere behind a chandelier” lottery seats. DEAD CENTER, ROW H! I mean, what could possibly be better? The show was absolutely PHENOMENAL, gorgeous, huge, theatrical, and everything you want The Phantom of the Opera to be. But apparently the Phantom himself decided there wasn’t quite enough drama happening onstage because there we

Barona
So I decided to head out to Barona today, because apparently I woke up and thought, “You know what sounds fun? Giving a casino some of my money.” And, well, I ended up losing, which definitely sucks. BUT I guess I played long enough that on my way home they actually called to tell me they bumped me up a card level! So did I win? No. Did I apparently achieve some sort of casino status in the process? YES. And from what I could understand on the very spotty phone call, I think

Set
Finally leaving San Luis after a few days up here working on The Mikado, and I have to say, the set is looking AMAZING! It’s always one thing to have something living in your head and completely another to start seeing it actually come to life in front of you. There’s still plenty to do before we open, but every time I come up here, another piece of the world gets added and it starts feeling more and more like the show I envisioned. I’m really excited about where this is head
