Worth it?

How do you keep fighting a battle you already know you’re never going to win? When someone’s memory of you is so filtered and jaded that no matter what you say or do, it just doesn’t land. You can know your truth, try to explain it, and still feel like you’re arguing with a version of yourself that isn’t even real.

At the same time, it’s beyond frustrating hearing that constant, low-level commentary about everything you do. Not dramatic, just steady enough to slowly wear you down. It’s not one big moment, it’s the accumulation of small things that become exhausting and a little grating.

At some point you have to wonder… is it even worth fighting something that’s already decided in someone else’s mind, or is it just a losing battle from the start? And honestly… can we just enjoy anything for five minutes without a running critique in the background?
