Big Brother

I love Big Brother. All the lying, backstabbing, alliances, friendships that last about twelve minutes, and people swearing they would NEVER do something right before doing exactly that. It’s basically real life with cameras and competitions thrown in. And somehow, every single year starts the same way. The new cast walks into the house and I’m looking at all of them thinking, “Who are these people and why do I care?” You have absolutely nothing invested in any of them. Then a few weeks go by and suddenly you have favorites, you can’t stand certain people, you’re yelling at the TV because someone trusted the ONE person they shouldn’t have trusted, and you’re completely invested in all of it. Then you watch the opening and see the people who have already been evicted and realize you barely even remember some of them! Kind of like people in real life who you no longer speak to, even though at one point you thought you were so tight and couldn’t imagine them not being part of your life. Then enough time passes and somehow they become someone you barely even think about anymore. Maybe that’s why I love Big Brother so much. People come into your life, alliances form, loyalties change, people disappoint you, some relationships survive and others just disappear. Every year I say I’m not going to get sucked into it again, and every year...expect the unexpected.
