What am I ?

I was thinking the other day about how, whenever people ask me what I am, I always just say Italian — simple, easy, done. But the truth is, I’m totally mixed.
My dad is half Italian, half Spanish… though we never really talk about the Spanish part, which is kind of funny considering his last name is Alvarez — definitely not Italian. And my mom? She’s a total mix of everything else and completely obsessed with Ancestry.com and tracing our roots. Like, deep into it — family trees, old census records, grainy maps, the works.
She even sent me the full breakdown of what Ancestry said about me and my sister. And when you really look at it, it’s just this wild, tangled web of distant cousins marrying each other generation after generation. Total chaos.
So it’s honestly hilarious that I just casually toss out “Italian” like that explains everything — when in reality, I’m some beautifully confusing blend of a whole lot of things.
