I recently stumbled upon the concept of stimming, or as I like to call it, “self-stimulatory behavior”—basically, a fancy term for repetitive movements or sounds that people use to chill out, manage their anxiety, or just keep themselves entertained. While it’s commonly linked to autism, it’s not exclusive to that club. Examples include rocking back and forth, which I do constantly, repeating certain phrases or noises like your own personal chant, or fidgeting with objects. Stimming can help with everything from regulating sensory input to expressing emotions and boosting focus. It’s pretty wild to realize that this quirky behavior plays a role in how we keep our internal worlds in check!
