I just saw on Peacock that there is a new Vanderpump Rules spinoff called New Shift with a completely new young cast. Bravo does this all the time with the Housewives franchises too — they replace the cast, and within weeks you forget about the old ones like they never even existed. It reminds me of when they completely rebooted RHONY with an all-new group. It is hard because I spent so much time with the original cast, not just watching them on TV but actually going to Pump and SUR, feeling like I was part of that world. And now it is just gone, replaced, like none of it ever happened. Lately that line hits harder than ever because it is exactly how I feel about my own life right now. As I get older, it is strange and a little sad to see how quickly the world moves on to the next new thing, the next new face, the next new moment. It all made me think of Crystal’s line in Showgirls — “There is always someone younger and hungrier coming down the staircase behind you.” 💅✨
