Raven 2

Last night was one of those weird, cosmic, what-is-even-happening moments. I was leaving Moulin Rouge when this intense radio commercial came on, something about a law firm urging people to reconnect with estranged relatives before it’s too late, or you’ll regret it forever. And I was like… okay, universe, I hear you. Because just last week, I told my new therapist that I haven’t spoken to my dad in over three years — even though he lives less than a mile away — and how Father’s Day just passed and stirred everything up. Then the night before, I was watching Real Housewives of Miami (yes, obviously), and two of the women were talking about their distant relationships with their fathers — and one of their dads had literally just died. It’s like my MeanGirls ESPN kicked in or I had another classic Raven moment — where everything connects and flashes like a weird little emotional montage. And just when I thought I could maybe ignore it, Lady Marmalade came on the radio — the same song that had been playing all night during the show. A full-circle, surreal loop. I don’t know if it’s a sign or just the universe messing with me, but… yeah. It’s a lot.
