Performative

One of my new favorite word is “performative.”  It’s everywhere on reality TV, but honestly, people have been this way long before the word existed. Back then, I swear people thought I was the poster child for it—probably because I’m dramatic by nature. But here’s the thing: me being dramatic is just me. Meanwhile, half the world is living like they’re on a reality show with an imaginary camera crew following them around. That’s what makes “performative” such a perfect word—it sums up the audition energy people are giving 24/7.
