I think my friend Kristin said it best: “I find it ironic that certain folks want to celebrate our nation’s independence from a tyrannical king — while supporting someone who tries to rule like one. I don’t expect them to see the irony, though, since that would require learning and knowing history.” Yeah. That part. 👏

Not trying to rain on anyone’s hot dog parade or dim the sparkle of fireworks, but a little reflection never hurt anyone.

As for me? I ended up doing absolutely nothing. I fell asleep in the afternoon (classic), totally missed going to my sister’s like I’d planned, and was fully knocked out before a single firework popped. But I’m not too worried—between SeaWorld, Universal, and Disneyland, I’ve seen enough fireworks to last several Fourths of July.
