Die Fledermaus

So Sheila and I went to see Die Fledermaus at the El Portal last night. Now, I’m not really an opera guy… but this was something else.

My friend Dylan directed it and we were right up front in the first row. He set the whole thing in the seventies — which made for some seriously fun moments — lots of cheating, drama, and wild party energy. The line of the night? “Raise your glass and smoke your grass” — a running theme in Act 2 that had the whole audience laughing.

Also… the Act 2 set? I kinda want to borrow it if I ever produce Oliver! someday. So good.
