Couch

Yesterday my mom got a pull-out couch from “Free La Mesa.” Gabe (my brother-in-law) and Ron (her AA friend) were supposed to pick it up. The woman even left it outside for them. Suddenly Ron’s “too old” and Gabe’s got a “bad back.”
I offered to help before work — three people can lift a couch, right? But no, Mom decided to “let them off the hook” and pay $100 for a guy with a truck… who I still had to go help. Less than a minute to load it, drive it to her house, carry it in, move the old couch to the garage, and then race to work.
The whole thing is irritating because my mom bends over backwards for them all the time, yet when she needs something, suddenly it’s all excuses. It should’ve been handled — period.
