Boundaries

I used to think setting boundaries made me “mean.” Like if I said no, or “I’m not okay with that,” someone would storm off, and I’d be left there holding the guilt like a party favor.

But here’s the truth: If someone only wants you when you have no boundaries, they don’t actually want you. They want your access. Your time. Your silence.

And I’m done handing that out like it doesn’t cost me something.

So now I set the boundary. Even when it’s awkward. Even when my voice shakes. Even when it ends the friendship, the situationship, the fake peace.

Because I’m not choosing discomfort for someone else’s comfort anymore. That’s what growth looks like. It’s not always pretty, but it’s real.
