The Big C

I somehow never watched The Big C when it was on….I thought it was going to be about sex. Which it kind of is… but spoiler alert, the C stands for cancer, so that escalated quickly.

For context, I watched all four seasons in the last few days, so clearly I made some choices.

It’s mostly funny in that sharp, dark way that makes you laugh and then immediately go quiet. Laura Linney is incredible. One minute I’m laughing, the next I’m staring at the wall thinking about life, time, and mortality.

I watched the last three episodes when I woke up this morning and ended up having to go back to sleep because I was crying so hard. I haven’t cried this much over a TV show since This Is Us.

If you also missed this show, I would absolutely watch it. It’s funny. It’s sad. It sneaks the heavy stuff in under the jokes, just like real life. It’s on Netflix.
