I really don’t understand how there still isn’t a cure for cancer at this point. We figured out COVID vaccines and boosters in record time, we have PrEP, and HIV/AIDS is no longer the death sentence it once was. Science can move fast when it wants to. So it’s hard not to feel frustrated and a little cynical, wondering if there’s just too much money wrapped up in treatments and long-term care for a real cure to be the priority. I know cancer is complicated and not just one thing, but still—it’s exhausting and heartbreaking to think about how common it is and how much suffering it causes. I just wish this was something we had figured out by now.
