So… I did a thing. I downloaded this app that reads chapters of my book out loud, and I’m honestly shook at how good it sounds. Like… who wrote this??? Oh right. Me. 😌
Hearing it spoken back feels kinda magical — like the story I’ve lived in my head for years suddenly stepped into a spotlight with a flawless blowout and professional lighting.
And then, of course, my brain goes, “Well yeah, but you had help.” A Ghost Writer, an Editors, proofreaders,Sudowrite… all the polish that took my beautifully chaotic scribbles and turned them into something that actually sounds like a real book.
Part of me wonders if it’s still enough me. Did too many hands touch the clay? Did I lose the rawness that made it mine?
But then I stop myself… because duh. It is still my story. Every messy memory. Every joke. Every heartbreak. Every wild situation only I lived through.
The help didn’t erase me — it elevated me. It just took the version written at 2 a.m. in pajamas and made it look like it showed up on time with a fresh manicure.
So yeah… I’m proud. Even if it took a village and a couple rounds of “Wait, why did I write it like that?”
It’s still my voice. Just finally wearing the right microphone. 🎤✨
